GE Named ‘America’s Most Admired Company’ In
Fortune Magazine Survey, Retains Excellent Ratings By AM Best
Local GE Money employees celebrate recognition
DENVER, Colo. – April 11, 2007 – FORTUNE magazine announced in its March 12 issue that the
General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE) is -- for the seventh time in the past decade -- “America’s Most
Admired Company,” according to a survey of the country’s top business leaders. It’s a cause for
celebration at GE Money’s Auto Warranty Services unit in Lakewood, Colorado.
“As a service-oriented business, our employees are our biggest asset,” said Orlando Zayas,
president of GE Money – Auto Warranty Services, a leading provider of vehicle service contracts. “This type of recognition is a true reflection of the hard work they do every day while helping us
continue to grow as a leading financial services company.”
FORTUNE asked over 3,000 executives, directors and securities analysts to select the companies they
admired most for the 2007 “Top 20” list. A total of 616 companies in 68 industries were surveyed
over the fourth quarter of 2006.
According to FORTUNE, “For sheer adaptability over time, GE is hard to beat. Of the 12 companies
Charles Dow chose to make up his original Dow Jones industrial average in 1896, GE is the only
one still in the index. In the year of our first corporate-reputation survey, Jack Welch stepped into
the CEO job, and he quickly set about remaking GE. Under current chief Jeffrey Immelt, the
company has been reinventing itself all over again.”
In addition to the recognition by FORTUNE magazine, A.M. Best Company, a full-service credit
rating organization dedicated to serving the financial services industries, recently renewed GE
Money’s Auto Warranty Services unit’s “excellent” financial strength and issuer credit ratings.
The excellent financial strength rating is assigned to insurance companies that A.M. Best deem to
have a strong ability to meet ongoing obligations to policyholders. Issuer credit ratings are an
independent opinion, based on a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative evaluation of a
company's balance sheet strength, operating performance and business profile. Such benchmarks are
increasingly important to an international market that looks for a strong indication of stability in the
face of widespread deregulation, mergers, acquisitions and other dynamic factors.
“It is an honor to be part of the AWS team,” said Shannon Tolbert, recently appointed vice
president of sales for GE Money - Auto Warranty Services. “These awards and recognition are clear
indicators that GE and Auto Warranty Services are organizations that consumers and businesses can
trust day in and day out.”
